EISMV has a dual mission of teaching and research. It has trained 986 veterinarians since its inception in 1974, but its missions also include a contribution, through research and development and its expertise, to poverty reduction, food security and economic development.
EISMV provides higher education matching veterinarian needs in Africa. Courses consist of all the knowledge essential to any veterinarian, i.e. all that concerns the animal production and animal health, conservation and exploitation of animals, including animal economics and production management, animal husbandry, hygiene, medicine, surgery and pharmacy, as well as control and use of animal products, including fishery products.
At the research level, EISMV aims at contributing to the promotion of economic growth, poverty reduction and food security in both cities and countryside of members and non members states through Research & Development activities and expertise in the areas of animal production and animal health.
