The following information is not exhaustive, and students should also look for other possible funding opportunities which are not mentioned on this Website. Equally, we do our best do update data, but if some links were broken, or some contact details not accurate anymore, please do not hesitate to inform us, so that we might make appropriate corrections.
Benin
French Embassy in Benin (Cultural and Cooperation Service)
We couldn’t get updated information regarding scholarships from the Cultural and Cooperation Service of the French Embassy in Cotonou for 2012-2013. Since scholarships were available in the past years, Beninese students who are willing to apply for a grant should directly contact the head of the scholarships office to make sure the scholarship program still exists.

The Belgian Development Agency has a scholarships programme for master’s or postgraduate students, which can be allocated to people studying in Senegal. Candidates must be Beninese, must not have received another grant from the Belgian cooperation in the past three years, must not be older that 35 when applying, and must have had, at least, a two-year professional experience since obtaining their last diploma. The selected course must be consistent with the applicant’s education and / or professional experience.
The application form, as well as the list of documents to enclose in the file, is available, from the beginning of the civil year, at the Cooperation Section (BCD) of the Belgian Embassy in Cotonou.

Burkina Faso
French Embassy in Burkina Faso (Cultural and Cooperation Service)
Burkinabe students who would like to apply for a master’s degree scholarship for 2012-2013 should submit their file before April 30th, 2012, at the Campus France Burkina Agency, within the grounds of the Georges Méliès Cultural Centre, Ouagadougou. Incomplete files will be rejected. A mixed Franco-Burkinabe commission, meeting in June 2012, will assess the files. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of the selection by the end of June.
The applicant’s file must include :
- A handwritten request for a scholarship, addressed to the Head of the Cooperation Service, French Embassy – 01 BP 510 Ouagadougou 01
- A (non legalised) copy of the Burkinabe ID card or passport
- A detailed CV, dated and signed (model available on-line)
- A (non legalised) copy of all diploma since their Bac
- A motivation letter
- A letter of recommendation written by an academic figure
- A pre-enrolment certificate from EISMV Public servants should have their files sent by their hierarchy.

Gabon
General Directorate of Scholarships and Internships (DGBS) – Ministry of Economy
In Gabon, DGBS manages the allocation of all scholarships. E category grants cover master’s degree and postgraduate studies. An application form can be downloaded on DGBS’ Website. The school or faculty offering the course should fill part of this form, to which the applicant should add :
- A birth certificate
- A health certificate,
- A police clearance certificate
- A ten-year commitment
- A certified copy of all diplomas (or certificate proving the academic level)
- A certificate of success for the on-going academic year
- An enrolment certificate for the academic year for which the scholarship is seeked
- An invoice for the tuition
For student residing outside Gabon, the Cultural Attaché of the country of residence should send the applicant’s file to DGBS. Otherwise, the applicant’s hierarchy should send the file to DGBS. Applicants should confirm the deadline for submitting their file with the Cultural Counsellor of their residence country, as information provided by DGSB’s Website are contradictory (the Website itself says March 15th, the application form, April 30th).

Mali
French Embassy in Mali (Cultural and Cooperation Service) The French Embassy in Mali will not offer scholarships for studies related to animal health and production in 2012-2013.

Mauritania

Requests for scholarships are assessed case by case, when they are received. The later they are submitted, the lesser the chances for applicants to be successful. Veterinary medicine is not considered as a priority but, depending on the available budget, it is still possible to get a grant.

Niger

Applicants for masters’ scholarships must send their files to the Nigerien Agency for Scholarships Allocation (Agence Nigérienne d’Attribution des Bourses - ANAB) before the 28th of February 2012. A mixed Franco-Nigerien commission will later select the best files and allocate the grants.
Applicants should :
- Be less than 35 years old as of January 1st of the year of allocation (45 years old for engineering education and PhDs) ;
- Have at least a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in the prospective field of studies ;
- Not have received a scholarship from the French Cooperation in the last three years, unless the application relates to a direct extension of their present studies.
